IIM Sirmaur’s Seventh Annual Convocation

IIM SIRMAURThe 7th Annual Convocation of the Indian Institute of Management Sirmaur was conducted today. The ceremony was held at the Institute’s campus at Paonta Sahib. Smt. Naina Lal Kidwai, Chairman, Rothschild India and Senior Advisor, Advent Private Equity was the Chief Guest for the occasion and delivered the Convocation Address. Professor Prafulla Y. Agnihotri, Director, IIM Sirmaur, presented the Director’s Report on the occasion. The ceremony was graced by Shri Ajay S. Shriram, Chairman, Board of Governors, IIM Sirmaur, and Chairman & Sr. Managing Director, DCM Shriram Ltd., and he awarded MBA Degrees to the graduating students. The families of graduating students were
present on the occasion.

Two hundred thirty-eight students were conferred the Master of Business Administration (MBA) and fifty students were conferred the Master of Business Administration on Tourism and Hospitality Management (MBA T&HM). Among the graduating students, there are 87 girl students. Rohit Dadheech received Chairman’s Gold Medal for the MBA. Director’s Medal was awarded to Debahuti Deo. Gaurav Sonawane received award for the Best All Round Performance while Rahul Ranjan and Chhavi Bansal received awards for proficiency in Finance and Marketing areas respectively. For MBA in Tourism and Hospitality Programme, Akanksha Gupta received a gold medal for the Best Academic Performance and Mragendra Singh Bais was presented with Special Recognition Award for being the Best All Round Performance in the programme.

In her virtual Convocation address, Chief Guest Smt. Naina Lal Kidwai gave an inspiring speech to the students. She emphasized the importance of continuous learning, acceptance of change and staying current in thinking. She also advised students to learn from the failures and be innovative in these times of change. She said that courageous leadership requires purpose, human values, ability to collaborate, high emotional quotient and work-life balance. She reminded the students the importance of climate change and water conservation for the society.

In his welcome address, the Chairman Board of Governors, Shri Ajay S. Shriram, congratulated the graduating batch and shared his wisdom on significance of compassion, integrity and values in professional and personal life. He also said that providing empathy and support to someone in distress is most important for leaders in corporates. He appreciated the contribution of the members of the Board of Governors to the growth of the institute. He complimented the Director for the increase in strength of Faculty members who have joined IIM Sirmaur from
reputable institutes in India and abroad.

Addressing the gathering, Professor Prafulla Y. Agnihotri, Director IIM Sirmaur congratulated the graduating students and their families. He shared that IIM Sirmaur admitted 249 students in its MBA programme and 55 in MBA (T&HM) during the academic year 2022-23. He apprised the gathering about the students’ achievements along with their placements record. He reminded students that they carry responsibility on their shoulders to maintain the dignity and honour of their education, and they should be aware of their responsibility towards the society.

IIM Sirmaur is a statutory and autonomous institute under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, which aims to provide Management education of high quality and promotes allied areas of knowledge as well as inter-disciplinary studies. Established in 2015, IIM Sirmaur has been able to undertake initiatives in varied activities related to academics, research, corporate interface, social inclusion and community engagement.
