Report on Inaugural Ceremony and Orientation week
At IMM Business School, the orientation program for the newly admitted Postgraduate students of 51 st batch of PGDM (2020-21) was organised from 2 nd August, 2021 to 6 th August, 2021. Students started an exciting new chapter of their higher education at IMM.
The orientation began with an overwhelming inaugural ceremony. Event started with the blessings of Maa Saraswati, Godess of Knowledge and wisdom. Students were formally welcomed by Dr CV Ramanan, Director-IMM. Our Chief Guest ,Mr Siraj A Chaudhry, MD & CEO, National Collateral Management Services Ltd, addressed the students with his words of wisdom. Guest of Honour, Mr Farhat Umar, Sr Vice President-Group HR Head, Mankind Pharma Ltd took the students through knowledge journey of corporate culture. Our special guest Mr V K Singh, Director- HR, Powergrid corporation Ltd enlightened them with experiential learning. Other dignitaries present on the occasion, Mr Jatin Sidhi, Senior Director, APAC Region, Oracle Cloud and the prestigious alumnus of IMM, Ms Bhawana Dhawan, Head-HR, Pidalis Global, Ms Anuricha Chander, Associate Partner, KPMG Global Services shared their corporate experiences to motivate the new comers in management arena. Prof Smita Lal, Dean-IMM introduced them to the course highlights and the culture of the IMM campus.
The second day of the program was filled with enthusiasm amongst the students. Day started with enriching session on “Traits expected from Future Managers in the changing scenario” by Mr Pulock Bhattacharjee, Vice President- BSE Institute Ltd. whereas Mr Amit Kavia, General Manager-HR at PAYTM emphasised on ” Hybrid working model-Efficiency enhancer”. Dr Sanjay Jerath, Dean, Fravashi International Academy, Nashik had rich interaction with students. In between, Students enjoyed cultural performances by their seniors and “Management Hustle” an Interactive Activity. Student Volunteers of senior batch also helped to carry out the activity.
Next day was started with a power session on “Succeeding in a challenging & uncertain environment” by Mr Rajiv Gatne, Director, Sunshine Healthcare Ltd. Another industry session was on “Modern Supply Chain Management” by our profound alumnus Mr. Adish Das, Regional Manager – East, FlipKart Ltd. Dr Mani A Nandi, HOD,IMM, had engaging session on “Marketing shift during the coronavirus pandemic- An over view”. All the students got an opportunity to assess their mental ability and locus of control contest- Brainvita (QUIZ), and the “ IMM Got Talent “, which was very much enjoyed by the students.
Next day was another learning experience blended with fulfilled activities. Day started with session on “Pandemic effect on the Automotive sector “ by Dr Nidhi Saxena, Business Head- MG Motors and on “Growth and Career opportunities in Non life Insurance” Mr Amit Sharma, Deputy Vice President, ICICI Lombard Ltd. Mr Shashank Shekhar, Training Manager, PVR Cinemas gave insights on “PVR Cinemas evolved to be the most powerful mode of entertainment” . IMM faculty members organised an ice-breaker session- a fun filled activity to engage the students. The students spent the whole day interacting with industry experts; among each other and knowing the faculty members in a fun-filled environment.
Last day was indeed a start of a continued learning curve for the students. They could interact with sector specific experts like Mr Mr Inbranjan, Business Head , Dailyhunt on the subject of “Digital happennings & newest career skills” and Mr Mr Hitesh Sahni, Corporate Financial Controller Aqulite
Industries Ltd on Financial Management. Mr Ajay Pratap Gaur, GENPACT India Ltd gave the glimpse of “Post COVID World- Paradigm shift at Work Place” and Ms Mona Sharma, Manager- Procurement Operations, GENPACT India Ltd talked about Supply Chain Management.
During the orientation, an interesting event “IMM Got Talent – Grand Finale” was also conducted. In this event, students presented their multi talents in various forms – presentations and role plays. This event was aimed to imbibe a sense of commitment and responsibility of the students for professional development.
Orientation programme was designed to equip the students with information required to succeed at professional front. Interacting with the corporate people who matter, know the current industry trends to excel, and befriend course buddies who will be your comrades, soul mates and life support for the next 2 years.
