Ajit MenonThe debate of the AI replacing Humans has been doing the rounds for years now. We are witnessing organizations adopting AI in their daily processes and the trend is steadily increasing for the very reason that it’s creating ample bandwidth for professionals to do much meaningful tasks and let technology take care of the routines one. The scope of Artificial intelligence is not just about automating processes at workplace, its rather impacting the future of virtually every industry and every human being. Artificial intelligence is acting as the main driver of emerging technologies like big data, robotics and IoT, and it will continue to act as a technological innovator for the foreseeable future. In the near term, AI is impacting the repetitive and objective task and is already transforming the way of working across industries as well as society. In the long term, it would be interesting to witness the evolution of AI even at cognitive tasks.

Today, Human and artificial intelligence together is creating exciting opportunities for mutual development however the pace at which breakthroughs are being achieved in AI space, it is becoming inevitable for humans to quickly re-skill themselves and work with AI before it replaces humans in many jobs, the trend for which has already begun. In many organizations, job displacement has already become a reality and has started impacting professionals across domains. The simple question to ask self is “how routine is my job?” the more objective or repetitive in nature the job is, the higher are the chances of it being replaced by AI in near future. Therefore one of the most important priorities and an absolute prerequisite for AI to be successful is that organization
invest in retraining people in new skills on a war footing.

With companies spending nearly billions of dollars on developing AI products and services, universities making AI a more prominent part of their respective curriculum, the new age organizations being extremely agile in adopting AI, big things are bound to happen. Defining AI vision, revisiting and establishing more effective operating models and reskilling our people for different roles will be critical task for an organization starting their AI journey.
