This International Women’s Day, Godrej Consumer Products honours Women and Allies across Asia, Africa, and Latin America
Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL), a leading emerging markets company, is committed to fostering an equitable workforce—not just in principle, but through continuous action to drive meaningful change. For International Women’s Day 2025, GCPL has introduced ‘WomenAlly: Allies in Action’, a month-long initiative spanning geographies like Asia (India, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, UAE), Africa (South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana) and Latin America (Argentina & Chile). This initiative recognizes and celebrates individuals within and outside the organisation—who are allies and actively champion inclusion, advocate for fairness, and contribute to a more supportive and dynamic workplace for women.
GCPL has four platforms where the company will reiterate their stand on affirmative efforts with respect to women. GCPL will introduce a docu-film on Breaking Gender Barriers in Sales; manufacturing site-based panel discussions on Allyship; WomenAlly event at Godrej One; Mumbai and a Family Outreach Initiative to acknowledge women participation in one of the toughest functions in FMCG – Sales. The company will also highlight the impact and use the opportunity to table next year’s charter of its two key programs – Godrej ki Shakti (an initiative to encourage women participation in manufacturing roles) and Aarambh (a program designed to empower women to take on roles in sales).
Commenting on the International Women’s Day initiatives, Vaibhav Ram, Global Head – Human Resources, Godrej Consumer Products Ltd, said, “At GCPL, our approach to Allyship ties in quite well to the broader pillars outlined by the UN – For All Women & Girls – Rights, Equality, and Empowerment. These pillars guide our efforts in fostering a culture where every individual, regardless of gender, background, or role, can thrive. Be it peers, family, friends, external work partners, these allies play a crucial role in fostering an inclusive and equitable workplace for underrepresented groups, challenging biases, and creating spaces where everyone feels valued and empowered. Our initiatives like Godrej ki Shakti and Arambh for supporting women participation in manufacturing and sales respectively are successful due to the support of allies within and outside of GCPL. On this International Women’s Day, we deeply appreciate and acknowledge the allies who contributed towards fostering an environment where women feel heard, valued, and empowered to reach their full potential.”
GCPL is soon releasing a docu-film, on how sales have traditionally been a male-dominated field but is now changing. It showcases how women are breaking barriers, challenging stereotypes, and redefining the narrative of success in a sales role. Through real-life stories of its women employees, it explores their journeys, the initial challenges or biases they faced, and how they overcame them. The documentary emphasizes the importance of allyship, showcasing how senior leaders at GCPL support and enable an environment where women in sales can succeed the right way.
From sales to manufacturing, from the head office to the global operations, GCPL is celebrating the strength, resilience, and achievements of its women as well as the unwavering support behind every journey. Through powerful storytelling, engaging discussions, and meaningful gestures like Allyship Cards for over 170 families of women in sales, GCPL acknowledges those who uplifts and cheers on their journey. The Shakti Summit – a two-day event at GCPL’s headquarters in Mumbai will mark a milestone for GCPL’s Manufacturing Employee Resource Group. It will not only reinforce GCPL’s commitment to fostering inclusion and driving change but also pave the way forward with a strategic charter for the coming year and personal branding sessions for ERG members. The celebrations will take shape through inspiring panel discussions, shared stories of Allyship, and holistic wellness initiatives, all echoing the spirit of WomenAlly: Allies in Action.
