IMM Leadership Summit, 2021 at the India Habitat Centre on 24th November, 2021

Institute of Marketing and Management, IMM has successfully organised the New Normal On-Ground Leadership Summit at the India Habitat Centre on 24th November,2021. The summit addressed key issues related to the New Age Learning in the New Normal.

IMM Summit 2021

With 3 Industry Doyens as chairs and 12 Industry Stalwarts as eminent speakers, the summit deliberated on Leadership in Turbulent Times, Diversity & Inclusion as well as Leadership of Change. Business Leaders from leading organization from all domains participated in the event.

The Summit Focus was on:

Leadership in Turbulent Times – Resilience to Reinvention.
Leadership Talk to Action – Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging.
Leadership of Change – Digital Professionals with a Futuristic Orientation

Eminent speakers from leading organisations such as MMH Beg, Head HR, Bharti Foundation, Mr Farhat Umar, President HR, Mankind Pharma Ltd, Anuricha Chander, HR Leader Audit and Tax and Head Global Mobility , KPMG Global Services ,Bhawana Dhawan, Head HR Pladis Global, Madhura Mukherjee, Learning & Development Specialist, Genpact, Shibu Shreshtha, Head HR of Pathkind Diagnostics, deliberated during the summit. The summit was addressed by few eminent entrepreneurs too.

The Summit was graced by Oberoi Hotels and Resorts, Pladis Global, Vouchagram India Pvt Ltd, Jabra, Burger King, Pantaloons and more as the gifting partners.

The session was addressed by Dr. CV Ramanan, Director, IMM Business School. Dr Ramanan welcomed all Esteemed Speakers, Invitees, Partners. During his speech he explained that Leadership is not just a position but to make difference and action. He also said that IMM has won Six Awards for Excellence for Innovative practices in Management Education.

First Session

First session was on “Leadership in Turbulent Times”. – Resilience to Reinvention The Session’s Moderator was Mr Farhat Umar, President, Global Human Resource, Mankind Pharma Ltd with Eminent Speakers: Mr Warren Stanley Patrick, Partner, Ryan & Stan LLP, Mr Viplap Singh, AGM-HR, HCL Technologies, Mr Rajeev Bhadauria, Founder & Managing Parner, Ebullient.

Mr Farhat Umar- The Session Director open the session by saying that that the Leadership is not just a designation and power but action in time. Further he shared presentation via video and explained about the Mankind Anthem prepared to motivate employees. During his speech Mr Farhat Umar said that there are Four Leadership skills required : 1) Honest 2) Forward looking 3) Inspring and 4) Competent. He said Leadership is to building relationship, have to learn every day, every time. Leaders are responsible for directing, aligning, motivating and inspiring people even in bad times.

Mr Warren Stanley Patrick, Partner, Ryan & Stan LLP,- the speaker of the session explained in a crisp and simple way that Leaders grows thru learning. According to Mr Patrick, Leadership is all about willingness to take changes, about being bold, fearless in taking decision, uniting others and caring for the
teams.

Mr Viplav Singh, AGM-HR, HCL Technologies, – the speaker of the session said that the key point of any Leader is communication, using technology to create solutions. He further explained that Leaders are responsible for continuity of business and take care of his/her team.

Mr Rajeev Bhadauria, Founder & Managing Partner, Ebullient– the last speaker of the session explained in a simple words that the Leadership is about facilitating, creating and co-creating. Mr Bhadauria also focused on fast changing technology. He further said leaders and followers have to come together for the success. True leaders are Contributors, quick decision makers, disciplined and breaking the rules to change, quick decisions, giving credit and taking the blame.

Second Session

The second session was on “Leadership Talk to Action” – Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging

The Session’s Moderator was Mr MMH Beg, Head HR, Bharti Foundation with Eminent Speakers- Ms Anuricha Chander, HR Leader, Audit & Tax and Head Global Mobility Services, KPMG, Ms Bhawana Dhawan, Head HR (South East Asia), Pladis Global, Ms Madhura Mukherjee, Learning and Development Specialist, Genpact, Mr Rajesh Kamath, Co-Founder and Director, Chankya Consulting and Co-Founder., Chiranjeev Gurukul.

Mr. M M H Beg- The Session Director open the session and said that there is too much to do on DEI part. Mr Beg focused on the best policies and practices to put diversity and inclusion in place. He had shared the recent example of Pandemic time, how work from home affected to Women workers, as they didn’t get enough support at home part and had to manage office and home together with very difficulty! He further said it will take Corporates, Institutions at least 50 years from now to implement the policies on D&I.

Ms Anuricha Chander, HR Leader, Audit & Tax and Head Global Mobility Services, KPMG, the speaker of the session said that the organization may bring in the D&I via awareness sessions, reviewing or redesigning policies. Leaders have to show that there is equity in the organization. Ensure that the equal opportunity (ie promotions, increments) is available for all employees irrespective of any gender. Ms Chander also advised to celebrate Women’s days so that people may remember.

Ms Bhawana Dhawan, Head HR (South East Asia), Pladis Global, the speaker of the session said that the people should be known for their individuality not from gender etc. Women are coming forward which was not even thought of. She also advised that more and more Women should be in Board. Women may be unstoppable force if given proper and equal opportunity said by Ms Dhawan.

Ms Madhura Mukherjee, Learning and Development Specialist, Genpact, the speaker of the session explained that we are doing lot of talk but not doing much. Diversity is an issue but inclusion is the big issue. She talked about D&I Labs, how manufacturing companies are using blind talent. Every person is bold, unique and capable to take any challenge if provided a chance, said by Ms Mukherjee.

Mr Rajesh Kamath, Co-Founder and Director, Chanakya Consulting and Co-Founder., Chiranjeev Gurukul, the speaker of the session explained in very different way and shared few examples from Indian mythology where all the systems were already in our culture which we are thinking to opt today’s corporate world. Mr Kamath advised to look forward D&I and other corporate lessons in Indian way rather European culture.

Third Session- Group Discussions

Third and the last session was on “Leadership of Change” – Digital Professionals with a Futuristic Orientation.

The session’s Moderator was Mr Atul Bhatnagar, Director, Sun Moksha with Eminent Speakers Mr Avishkar Mehrotra, Founder & Managing Partner, Neo Navigate Pathways, LLP, Mr Shibu Shrestha, Head, HR & Corporate Affairs, Pathkind Diagnostics Pvt Ltd., Mr Rajat Tikku, Head, Oil & Gas, Hexagon PPM

The session was Moderated by Mr Atul Bhatnagar, Director, Sun Moksha. He had mentioned about VUCA world and said that Leaders must prepare themselves for right amount of skills, knowledge to tackle the situations in crisis. Mr Bhatnagar mentioned the importance of technology and said that even Agriculture Sector (most ignored sector) cannot be overlooked. With the help of technology, Soil condition, how much water is required in the field etc may be known said Mr Bhatgnagar.

Mr Avishkar Mehrotra, Founder & Managing Partner, Neo Navigate Pathways, LLP, the speaker in the session explained about the Power of technology. Leadership competency is also required differently and mentioned about 5 Leadership literacy ie Looking back to the future, Change is happening very fast, Creating and sustaining positive energy, Fit mentally and physically.

Mr Shibu Shrestha, Head, HR & Corporate Affairs, Pathkind Diagnostics Pvt Ltd., the speaker in the session explained about how AI is used in real world and provided few examples and products developed by JP Morgan, IBM, Google. Mr Shrestha also said that Five important Technological transitions taking place in India ie: Payment infrastructure, Use of Digital technology for Governance, Star ups, India’s industry and service sectors even agriculture are undergoing massive digital transformation, Telecom technology such 5G & 6G.

Mr Rajat Tikku, Head, Oil & Gas, Hexagon PPM, the speaker in the session said that how digitization has changed the Oil & Gas sector. How old style of paperwork transformed into electronic log books and become easy to handle effectively and correctly, he added. Mr Tikku also mentioned that due to technology, Plants in multiple locations can be inspected/ seen from one location.

After mind blowing sessions, the event was closed. Vote of thanks was delivered by Prof. Smita Lal, Dean, IIM Business School. Prof. Lal said that all the sessions were engaging and insightful. The eminent speakers of all sessions shared their valuable corporate experience and thoughts with audience, she added.
