HR Confab: A Resounding Success in Navigating Multi-Generational Workforce Engagement
The fourth edition of HR Confab – organized by the Human Resources department of GIA India – concluded on a high note, bringing together over 35 HR professionals from diverse industries to discuss one of today’s most pressing workplace challenges—engaging a multi-generational workforce. Held at GIA India’s office in Mumbai, the event featured thought-provoking keynote sessions, experiential learning, and networking opportunities, making it a standout success in fostering industry collaboration.
Insightful Discussions & Experiential Learning
The event commenced with an introduction to GIA’s legacy by Mr. Sriram Natarajan, Managing Director of GIA India, followed by a warm welcome and context-setting by Ms. Shweta Dubey, Sr. Director – HR, Admin and Security, GIA India. Setting the tone for the evening, she highlighted the importance of evolving HR strategies to cater to employees across different age groups.
In his keynote address, Mr. Adil Malia, a renowned HR strategist, captivated the audience with his insights on leadership and generational dynamics. He spoke about key psychological patterns—identity, affiliation, alienation, and rejection—that influence how individuals from different generations perceive their roles or connect with their teams. This, he noted, makes the discussion around multi-generational engagement both timely and essential for HR leaders. “Every generation brings a unique value to the workplace. The challenge is not in managing these differences but in harnessing them to drive innovation and performance,” he emphasized.
Focusing on this theme, Sahil Nayar, an HR Leader and Influencer, shared actionable strategies for fostering engagement across generations. He emphasized that concepts like self-awareness, mutual respect, and the idea of “do not manage” are vital in understanding generational differences and transforming them into opportunities. “Organizations that create an inclusive environment, where traditional expertise meets modern agility, are the ones that thrive in today’s dynamic landscape,” he said, drawing nods of agreement from attendees.
One of the event’s highlights was an engaging activity led by Anand Dhruv, designed to challenge participants’ mindsets and habitual ways of thinking. Through hands-on exercises, attendees were encouraged to question assumptions, break preconceived notions, and explore new perspectives on workplace dynamics.
A Platform for Meaningful Conversations
Reflecting on the event’s success, Shweta remarked, “We’ve been organizing HR Confab events for the past year to learn and share HR best practices across varied roles and industries. The enthusiasm and participation for the fourth edition show that engaging a multi-generational workforce is a crucial conversation in today’s workplace. I’d like to thank Adil Malia, Sahil Nayar, and Anand Dhruv for sharing their insights and all the participants who see the value in such knowledge conferences.”
With attendees leaving with fresh perspectives and actionable takeaways, HR Confab is a must-attend event not only for HR professionals looking to shape the future of workforce engagement but also for business leaders.
