SIOMHR Summit organised by the Symbiosis Institute of Operations Management/ The People Management Media Partner, successfully held on 20th September, 2025| Hotel Radison, Udhyog Vihar, Gurgaon. A full-day event with three powerful sessions was very insightful and inspiring.

Session 1: Topic: The Expectation Gap: They joined for growth. They left for silence| Moderated by Dr. Vandana Sonwaney, Director, SIOM.

The HR leaders shared their views on challenges in hiring include attracting talent in a competitive market, a growing skills gap, slow or inefficient hiring processes. The speakers spoke about the importance of DNA match (aligning a candidate’s core values, personality, and working style with an organization’s culture) or Cultural Fit while hiring the candidates. The Speakers also raised an important issue on corporate culture, they rightly said that students must know that organisations have a culture of values, beliefs, attitudes, and behaviours. It goes beyond formal rules, encompassing the “unwritten rules” and the collective atmosphere where employees and leaders interact, make decisions, and pursue common goals. The role of parenting and academia is very important to teach them before the student steps into the corporate world. The corporate leaders also understand that the students are totally new and not aware of this working culture. Hence, one to one coaching for negative feedback and appreciation in a team is very important to motivate newcomers/ fresher.

Session 2: Topic: Melange: Unity through unique blends | Moderated by Dr. Yashomandira Kharde, Professor & Head – Placement, SIOM

Respecting diverse cultures during hiring is essential because it cultivates a positive and inclusive workplace, which leads to higher productivity, improved employee retention and better performance. The corporate HR Leaders of the session further advised that equal opportunity in the workplace is the principle that every individual has the same chances for employment and career advancement, free from discrimination based on characteristics like race, gender, religion, age, disability. Building a culture of value and appreciation fosters this genuine human connection.

Session 3 : Topic : Structure to Synergy: Transforming hierarchy into harmony moderated by Dr. Yashomandira Kharde, Professor & Head – Placement, SIOM

The Keynote Address delivered by Mr Jasmeet Anand, Sr. Manager Tech Talent Attraction, Mckinsey & Co. on AI and its importance in present time. It was beautifully explained with examples how AI is reshaping the recruiting process by enhancing efficiency, accuracy, and the candidate’s experience.

Third and last session was focussed on how to transform hierarchy into harmony by ensuring good leadership, open communication and transparent decision-making, empower employees through collaboration and feedback, cultivate a supportive culture with empathetic leadership and growth opportunities. The HR Leaders further advised that redesigning the hierarchy system is very important and allows a company to adapt to market changes, technology, and evolving employee needs. A traditional, rigid hierarchy can create bottlenecks and disconnects in today’s fast-paced, knowledge-based economy.
